A contemporary kitchen for a newly built farmhouse

The kitchen was to form a major part of the downstairs space and Amelia knew the type of kitchen and style she wanted. Their previous kitchen had been from a well-known high-street kitchen retailer so she visited their nearest showroom but was underwhelmed with what was on show and disliked the sales approach.

The couple visited Kitchen Design Centre in Blackburn after seeing one of their kitchens in a glossy magazine. They were immediately impressed with Showroom Manager Will Hustler and after showing him their architect’s plans, knew he could create the perfect space for them. He understood their vision and the contemporary look they were after.

They liked the fact that Will’s expertise saved them from making mistakes. He advised them to locate the sink on the back wall run of units rather than in the island which enabled them to have a seamless large island which was high up on their wish list. Amelia wanted the hob to be in the island and was persuaded by Will to go electric rather than gas for aesthetic purposes and ease.

Appliances were important and the couple liked the fact that Kitchen Design Centre were a Neff Masterpartner. They chose a whole suite of Neff appliances from ovens, hob and extractor to fridge, freezer and wine cooler.

The best advice came in the colours Will recommended which work perfectly in the space. They felt reassured being able to select colours from such a wide range of samples in the showroom and they chose the breakfast bar and worktop after seeing it on display.

Initially they were anxious at the size of the room and didn’t want the kitchen to look lost. Will created a separate bar area which works perfectly and ties everything together and designed the island and tall units to dominate and command the space.

Andrew and Amelia are delighted with Kitchen Design Centre, from Will to the fitters who were fantastic and did an exceptional job. The kitchen has become the heart of their stunning home and has the ‘wow’ factor. It’s perfect for everyday family life and entertaining, “we can’t praise Will enough. He’s created our dream kitchen that fits perfectly within the farmhouse. From the start where we came armed with architect’s plans to the finish where Will came and taught us how to use all the appliances, everyone at Kitchen Design Centre has been exceptional.”

The space allocated to the kitchen was fantastic but such a large space needed careful consideration. My design includes bold elements such as the large island. The inclusion of the separate drinks area really works and makes the space flow.”
