A second Kitchen Design Centre kitchen for a period property

When Lindsey and Mike moved to their dream home: a stunning period house in Saddleworth, they turned to designer John Crosby at kitchen Design centre again as he’d done the kitchen in their previous house.

Keen to do the fabulous house and all it’s period features justice, they asked John to design the kitchen, making the most of the high ceilings, ornate coving and sash windows.

In a stark contrast to their previous kitchen which was white, John went for a dark palate and took advantage of the high ceilings by including ultra-high tall bank units in ‘Meteor’ Black Steel. The units on the island were contrasted in a lighter Lazer Soft Taupe and these were perfectly enhanced with a Silestone Cemento Spa worktop in a suede finish.

The square room has large sash windows on two walls so to incorporate plenty of storage and to reflect the shape of the room, John included a large ‘L’ shaped island which was finished with a breakfast bar in Toronto Cognac Vintage Oak.

A key piece in the kitchen is a free-standing cabinet with a Caple Wine Cooler built in. Made of the same Toronto Cognac Vintage Oak, it mirrors the wood on the breakfast bar.

Lindsey had Neff appliances in her previous Kitchen Design Centre kitchen and loved them so naturally chose them again in her new kitchen. She opted for two Neff Slide and Hide Single Ovens, Neff Microwave Oven and warming Drawer, Neff Induction hob, Neff Downdraft Hood, Neff Dishwasher and Neff Fridge and Freezer.

A Quooker tap completed the appliances and John designed a storage area in the corner of the kitchen in the form of black metal box shelving.

Are you ready to make your dream kitchen a reality?

"I loved my old Kitchen Design Centre kitchen that John designed so when we moved there was only one company I wanted to do the new kitchen. The brief was for the kitchen to suit the house and John’s first design was spot on, requiring just a few tweaks. The finished room is incredible. It has the wow factor and really does the house justice."

What Our Designer Says

"It was great to design another kitchen for Lindsey and Mike. As soon as I saw the house and the room I knew I could create something special. The period features and ceiling height lent itself perfectly to this design and I’m delighted with the finished kitchen."

AS SEEN ON GEORGE CLARKE’S BEAUTIFUL BUILDS: FROM DATED LAYOUT TO DREAM ENTERTAINING SPACE

When Katherine and Andrew purchased their property, they always knew a full renovation would follow.

With both the outdated kitchen and untouched garden requiring significant transformation, the project soon became part of Channel 4’s George Clarke’s Beautiful Builds – it was an opportunity they felt perfectly aligned with their vision for the property.

While searching for a local kitchen specialist, Kitchen Design Centre immediately stood out thanks to its long-standing reputation, glowing customer reviews and welcoming showroom experience.

The brief focused on creating a sleek, contemporary kitchen that would feel open, social and highly functional, while complementing the wider architectural renovation of the home.

The finished design delivers a beautifully balanced space that combines clean lines with luxurious detailing.
One of the standout features is the striking worktop design. The waterfall edge peninsula creates a bold focal point within the room, while the continuation of the material across the side panels introduces a seamless, premium aesthetic.

Functionality was equally important throughout the design process, with carefully considered storage solutions and high-quality appliances helping to simplify everyday living. Among Katherine and Andrew’s favourite additions is the Neff oven, praised for both its versatility and pyrolytic self-cleaning function.
The completed result is a sophisticated contemporary space that completely transforms how the home looks, feels, and functions, perfectly reflecting Katherine and Andrew’s original vision from the moment they moved in.
