When Andrew and Leona Bannister decided they wanted a new kitchen they went to a few companies for ideas and designs but it was Simon at Kitchen Design Centre that won hands down with an ambitious re-modelling of the space that involved knocking four walls down to make the most of the stunning views beyond.
Nestling at the foot of Pendle hill, Andrew and Leona’s house was crying out for a space that made the most of the views. A dramatic re-design that opened up several rooms to work as one was suggested by Simon. Says Leona, “we went to three different companies but Kitchen Design Centre were the only company who listened to the brief. I wanted to keep a dining area in the kitchen and it had to work for us as a busy family. We wanted a contemporary look and feel which also had an industrial edge and Simon delivered this.”
Andrew and Leona liked the fact that Simon included a breakfast bar in addition to the more formal bench seating area and loved his innovative storage area as you come down the stairs. The way the kitchen flowed in to the informal living area was also perfect.
When it came to textures and the colour palette, the couple knew they wanted to apply an industrial, urban feel and loved a handle-less display in the showroom that included a 60mm Corian worktop. A matte, concrete texture was added to the design by using Comet Putty Concrete Pearl Grey doors and panels with White Jasmine Corian worktops.
Finished Kitchen
A fully moulded sink with Quooker tap was included and Neff appliances were chosen in the form of an induction hob, slide and hide oven and a multifunction combi oven with plate warming drawer.
The whole family are delighted with their new kitchen and couldn’t recommend Kitchen Design Centre enough, “we love the new space. It really makes the most of the views, looks fantastic and really works for our busy family.”

"When I walked in to Andrew and Leona’s house I couldn’t believe that their amazing view of Pendle hill and the surrounding countryside was so hidden. I knew straight away that I wanted to knock walls down so you could see from the front of the house to the back and make the most of the view. I knew the kitchen would work really well by making it one big space. This also made the area feel light and airy. I changed a window to a door and introduced a cosy booth seating area. The contemporary design was perfect for the house and to accommodate their busy lifestyles, I also devised a clever storage area as you come down the stairs with each family member having their own box for storage, meaning bits and pieces are out of the way. The end result is a stunning kitchen that I’m really proud of."Simon Thomas
