Kitchen Plan
The couple’s home is a large barn conversion from the 70s near Clitheroe and their old-fashioned kitchen was poorly laid out, had no dining area, and was small in comparison to all the other rooms.
“When we bought the house we always intended to extend and replace the kitchen.” said Jonathan.
“With a young family, we spend a lot of time in the kitchen area and wanted a dining space and sitting area – so we decided to open up the existing rooms and extend to create a more usable space.
“Our old kitchen resembled a room in a caravan. We knew it needed a makeover.”
After adding an extension, the couple commissioned Kitchen Design Centre to create a modern kitchen design to fit in with their family orientated lifestyle.

The area that used to be the kitchen became a dining and seating area and the new extension became a contemporary open plan kitchen.
Now extremely spacious, the room has light pouring in through the tri-fold patio doors and large windows.
A 4m “island” was constructed for the centre piece of the designer kitchen, creating the perfect preparation area and storage space.
Fitted with the latest cutting-edge technology, the modern kitchen boasts a combination microwave, oven, coffee machine, warming drawers, induction hobs, integrated fridge, freezer and dishwasher and a 100 degrees Quooker hot tap.
Suzanne, designer at Kitchen Design Centre’s Manchester showroom, said: “We helped Victoria and Jonathan tackle all the decisions in a logical order, and eventually end up with their ideal kitchen.
Finished Kitchen
“We went through the plans, and supplied them with 3D images of how the kitchen would look. These images really helped Victoria and Jonathan visualise how the kitchen would be in reality.”
Given plenty of time to consider the options, and with the guiding hand of Suzanne, the couple now have their dream designer kitchen installed.
“We love our new kitchen,” said Jonathan. “My advice is to find a designer and fitter that you really get on with.
“Planning and fitting a designer kitchen is a long process and there is a lot to consider – so you need someone you trust to give you the best advice.”
