If you haven’t already heard, this year marks our 40th year of designing exceptional kitchens here at Kitchen Design Centre! From our humble beginnings in Blackburn to now having five luxurious locations across the North West, including Failsworth, Urmston, Barrowford, and our newest showroom in Woolton, Liverpool, our growth has been driven by our unwavering commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and making kitchens that truly feel like home.
As we reflect on the past 40 years, we can’t help but look back at some of the stunning kitchens we’ve designed along the way. From the early 2000s, when bold colours, curved edges, and glossy finishes were all the rage, to the modern and contemporary kitchens we produce today, one thing has remained constant: our passion for creating kitchens that combine both beauty and functionality.
Take a trip down memory lane with us, as we revisit some of our kitchen designs from the 2000s – a time when soft wood tones, tile detailing, and metallic accents were at the forefront of kitchen design. These kitchens might seem a bit different from today’s minimalist spaces, but they still hold a special place in our hearts. From the glossy cabinets and chrome handles to the bold use of colour, these kitchens were a reflection of the trends and tastes of the time, with a focus on making a statement.
While design trends may change, we have never wavered in our commitment to craftsmanship and creating spaces that are as practical as they are beautiful. The kitchens we’ve designed over the years have always reflected our customers’ individual needs and lifestyles. Looking at these kitchens from the 2000s, we see the foundations of many design elements we still incorporate today – things like integrated appliances, clever storage solutions, and layouts that make cooking and entertaining seamless and enjoyable.
As we celebrate this incredible milestone, we’re not just reflecting on the past but also looking forward to the future. Today, the kitchens we design come with smart appliances like Neff, Quooker, Liebherr, as well as other innovative features that set them apart. Trends may come and go, but the core values of quality, personalisation, and functionality are timeless – just as they were when we first started our journey in 1985.
Here’s to many more years of bringing your dream kitchens to life. For 40 years, our team has always worked hard to ensure that, no matter what trends come and go, your dream kitchen reflects your taste and fits flawlessly into your everyday life.
Every kitchen we design is made with you in mind. Whether you want a sleek modern finish, a traditional look, or something in between, we’ve spent decades perfecting our process to make sure every kitchen we deliver is the perfect fit.

STUNNING TRANSFORMATION
Our clients chose Kitchen Design Centre because they wanted a dedicated expert to lead the way, rather than a mere supplier of parts
They required a team to guide them from the first spark of an idea to the final finishing touches.
The brief presented a unique challenge – transforming a blank-canvas garage into a space that celebrated the charm of a traditional barn conversion. The room, featuring expansive wooden beams, demanded a thoughtful design.
More than just a kitchen, the clients required a family-oriented living hub with a dining area tailored for entertaining.
Working with Simon, the Manager at our Barrowford showroom, provided total peace of mind. He spent time listening and meticulously exploring various layouts until the vision felt just right.
The result is a traditionally-styled kitchen filled with modern gadgets. The breathtaking Dark Blue Shaker cabinetry serves as a bold anchor, paired with light-toned units to accentuate the warmth of the timber beams and flooring.
