Designer kitchens for the entertainer

KDC-blog-16th-feb

If you love hosting parties, social soirees and posh dinners with friends then a kitchen purposely designed for entertaining is exactly what you need.

In today’s blog, we’ll be sharing just a few tips on how to create that perfect party kitchen – from fitting the correct lighting to creating that all important gathering space.

Spacious design for socialising

If you’re planning on hosting parties and social soirees in your kitchen, space is a must. If your kitchen is quite small it may be worth planning an extension to create more space, but if this is out of the question there are still plenty of ways to maximise your kitchen space.

A kitchen island is a great way to maximise your space as it offers a social hub for guests to gather around as well as storing a multitude of sins.

You can hide away all your spare crockery, condiments, recipe books and much more with built in storage space. An open plan kitchen is also a must.

A party vibe

A dull kitchen with a lack of style or personality won’t help get anyone in the party mood, so think carefully about how to create that party vibe.

Vibrant colour schemes look great … but this doesn’t mean going overboard with a full fuchsia pink kitchen. Instead, choose an accent colour, such as red or purple and feature this on one wall or on a splashback panel.

You can also have this colour running throughout your kitchen as a theme – with small appliances or accessories such as tea towels shaded in the same colour.

Built in furniture

If you have the space, a bar area, perhaps divided from the rest of the kitchen and/or a seating area – with comfortable sofas or a more structured booth style setting – help to create a welcoming, social feel to your kitchen.

Sleek appliances

If you’re hosting a party, you want to make sure everything is perfect. Top-of-the-range, sleek appliances, from brands like Neff, help to ensure that your food looks great and is cooked well.

Modern appliances like dishwashers also help make the post-party clean up that little easier.

Features such as warming drawers are also something worth investing in – ensuring your food remains tasty no matter when you serve it.

Of course, a party wouldn’t be complete without a tipple or too, so consider installing a fridge freezer with an ice maker and investing in a wine fridge or wine cooler.

Mood lighting

Lighting is key to creating the perfect atmosphere. Ambient lighting helps to create that laid-back feel and can be achieved with dimmable wall lights and decorative systems like shelf and in-cabinet lights.

The best thing about mood lighting is that it can serve your day-to-day needs too, taking your from practical preparation right through to perfect partying,

Easy-clean, chic and stylish surfaces

Consider opting for a material that looks great and is functional. Gloss and hi-gloss countertops offer both these qualities. They’re modern, stylish and easy to clean if there are spillages.

Materials such as natural stone should be avoided as they’re notoriously stain-prone.

The kitchen details that make everyday life feel a little easier 🙌🏼

We positioned the dishwasher right beside the drawers where we keep our plates, bowls and cutlery, and honestly… it’s made unloading so much quicker!

It might seem like a small detail when planning your kitchen, but getting the layout right can make such a difference to how your kitchen works day to day.
