Why now is the perfect time to plan your kitchen renovation project

As you’ll know if you’ve ever paid a visit to one of our expansive kitchen showrooms, kitchen renovations are far from one-day projects! There’s a considerable period of planning, weighing up your options and narrowing down the choices to create your perfect kitchen design. Most new kitchen designs last for 10 years or more once it’s fully installed and getting plenty of use, so the planning, design and fitting process take a few months at the very least. That’s why the late winter and spring is the perfect time to get started.

Key reasons for an early start

Creating a design you like can be done in minutes, but creating a space you want to live in takes far longer. There are the functional aspects to consider, as to what you want to do with your space and how you want it to work. You might have your own little niggles about your current kitchen, and while sometimes these are easily solved, other times it takes time to find a solution – even for our talented designers! Then, of course, there’s the fact that you may have your perfect design already mapped out in your head, but your partner or family may have other ideas. It’s key to get a space that suits everyone – after all, they’ll be using it too.

For these reasons alone, it’s important not to rush the planning process, so getting yourself organised as early as you can is always helpful. And if you’re lucky enough to be ready in time for the warmer spring or summer months, this time of year is always more pleasant and convenient for home renovation. Springtime brings extra rays of sunlight, and a more conducive daytime temperature. Also, if any window frames and double-glazing are being changed along with the kitchen renovation – perhaps to incorporate more natural light – then it’s always nice for the weather to be as bright and warm as it possibly can be during that process!

Plus, if you’re planning on going on holiday abroad for a few weeks, it makes life even easier for both you and your fitters. It’s worth keeping in mind, though, that you may need to schedule in extra time for any special orders for certain custom fittings or unusual requested materials.

Creating unique spaces tailored to suit you

If all that sounds a little daunting, rest assured we’re here to help. At Kitchen Design Centre, our focus is on designing a space that’s uniquely tailored to you, reflecting your lifestyle down to the very last detail. To do that, we work hard to get to know you, so that our final designs accurately reflect the style and functional aspects you desire for your space. As you might imagine, this takes a fair amount of time too, although it takes longer for some customers than others! Some wander into our showrooms and find the design they want almost immediately, whereas others want their space designing almost completely from scratch.

No matter your personal tastes or style, you can rest assured that here at Kitchen Design Centre, we can design a kitchen to suit you. This is true even for small spaces or kitchens with similarly challenging factors – in just the past few weeks, our wonderful designer Maxine won “Best Use of Small Space” in the Neff Master Partner awards! AS SEEN ON GEORGE CLARKE’S BEAUTIFUL BUILDS: FROM DATED LAYOUT TO DREAM ENTERTAINING SPACE

When Katherine and Andrew purchased their property, they always knew a full renovation would follow.

With both the outdated kitchen and untouched garden requiring significant transformation, the project soon became part of Channel 4’s George Clarke’s Beautiful Builds – it was an opportunity they felt perfectly aligned with their vision for the property.

While searching for a local kitchen specialist, Kitchen Design Centre immediately stood out thanks to its long-standing reputation, glowing customer reviews and welcoming showroom experience.

The brief focused on creating a sleek, contemporary kitchen that would feel open, social and highly functional, while complementing the wider architectural renovation of the home.

The finished design delivers a beautifully balanced space that combines clean lines with luxurious detailing.
One of the standout features is the striking worktop design. The waterfall edge peninsula creates a bold focal point within the room, while the continuation of the material across the side panels introduces a seamless, premium aesthetic.

Functionality was equally important throughout the design process, with carefully considered storage solutions and high-quality appliances helping to simplify everyday living. Among Katherine and Andrew’s favourite additions is the Neff oven, praised for both its versatility and pyrolytic self-cleaning function.
The completed result is a sophisticated contemporary space that completely transforms how the home looks, feels, and functions, perfectly reflecting Katherine and Andrew’s original vision from the moment they moved in.
