We’ll be honest – the state of the global economy is rarely the first conversation topic of choice for our designers. (We much prefer discussing your designer kitchen with you instead!) Unfortunately though, the economy is more relevant now than it’s ever been.
The last eighteen months or so have been somewhat demanding for us, as they have been for countless businesses all over the UK. The Covid-19 pandemic and ongoing effects of Brexit have both presented some of the biggest challenges, both to us and all sorts of sectors and services across the world. In fact, this is the only time we can collectively remember where the demand for kitchen furniture, products and building materials has so dramatically outstripped the supply, and for such an extended period.
Sadly, it was inevitable that these challenges would start to have an impact on prices. According to the Office of National Statistics, the cost of general building materials rose by at least 20% in the space of just 12 months (July 2020 to July 2021).
Here at Kitchen Design Centre, we’ve worked extremely hard to maintain our business and service continuity throughout the lockdowns in 2020, while holding off price rises as much as we possibly could for 2021. However, regrettably we’ll be forced to increase prices across all product ranges by an average of 9% for all new quotations and orders from 1st January 2022.
So if you want to turn your vision for your dream kitchen into a reality, don’t hesitate to speak to one of our talented kitchen designers, or pop into your local showroom – we’ve got five locations in Blackburn, Barrowford, Manchester, Urmston, and Liverpool – and we’ll be only too happy to see how we can help.
