Led by Design: A Sleek, Luxurious, Contemporary Kitchen

Design was of paramount importance for Derrick and Mandy when it came to choosing a kitchen company to replace the kitchen in their Barrowford home.

They approached three other kitchen companies but Kitchen Design Centre and Designer Suzanne Ryan were the obvious choice: Kitchen Design Centre’s design focus, instead of a heavy sales approach impressed them and they were delighted with Suzanne’s first design, feeling she understood the brief to create a high-end kitchen, as Derrick explains,

“The main thing for us was a strong design and this was evident right from the start when Suzanne presented her first design and we loved it. It was exactly what we wanted and we couldn’t believe she’d nailed it at the first attempt. We knew from the start that we could work really well with her; we felt we could trust her which was important.”

Suzanne changed the layout of the kitchen space completely. Their existing kitchen lacked flair, consisting of a peninsular based layout which resulted in a lot of wasted space. She totally reconfigured it, creating a much more open space and introduced a large island in the middle of the kitchen which not only creates a focal point in the room but also provides the perfect dining area. The new design also incorporates many high-end elements throughout, such as the bench seating area and Quartz window sills, both adding to the overall high-end look and feel.

Derrick and Mandy knew the colours they wanted and selected the colour palette from the wide range of samples in the showroom, opting for Laser soft graphite lacquer doors with summer oak silver grey effect wood contrast. For the worktops they went for a 30mm Quartz worktop in New Yarra which has a subtle sparkle, complementing the floor tiles and adding to the overall luxurious feel.

A sleek look was important and Suzanne achieved this with her design and by specifying high-end appliances. Neff was the brand of choice for all the main appliances, a Blanco undermount sink was also selected together with a Quooker Flex Tap with Cube tank for chilled and sparkling water.

The end result is a high-end contemporary kitchen that is not only practical, cleverly utilising space but also has the ‘wow’ factor with a high-end look and feel. The introduction of an island works so much better than the existing peninsular design and has created considerably more storage and work top space for the couple.

Derrick and Mandy are delighted with the end result and Kitchen Design Centre, “The end result is fabulous; The kitchen looks incredible and is just what we wanted. We can’t recommend KDC enough, from Suzanne who wowed us with her first design and throughout with her fantastic project management skills to the fitters who were brilliant with their fantastic attention to detail and craftsmanship.”

AWARD-WINNING KITCHENS FOR AN AWARD-WINNING DEVELOPER

As you may know if you’ve visited any of our showrooms in Manchester, Blackburn, Liverpool or Barrowford, we manage more than 250 kitchen projects each year here at Kitchen Design Centre. Many of these kitchens are for individual customers, but we also specialise in providing exceptional designer kitchens to housebuilders and developers. We have a particularly successful longstanding relationship with Candelisa, a prestigious Yorkshire-based property developer that is (like us) known for the peerless quality of its designs.
The company already has an impressive array of awards on its shelves, and its team have recently managed to secure their latest accolade: the Best High Volume New Housing Development at the prestigious LABC Awards!
In case you need a quick refresher, the LABC Awards are the largest business-to-business awards in the UK’s building control sector, aimed at celebrating and rewarding building projects, and the people behind them. The Best High Volume New Housing Development in question was Candelisa’s project at Countyfields, Embsay. Due to our strong relationship with the company (largely through Simon Thomas, the head of our Barrowford showroom), Kitchen Design Centre was chosen to deliver every kitchen at the Embsay development – and like Candelisa’s team, we’re hugely proud of the results.

Latest case study now live incase you missed it.

With a keen eye for design, Nicole knew the look she wanted and approached a local kitchen company. They came up with a range of designs but although there was nothing wrong with them, the couple felt that they would like an alternative design. They were already dealing with a lot of different companies for other rooms in the house and were reluctant to involve another but Anthony suggested they visited Rowan at Kitchen Design Centre Urmston to see if he could improve the design, and they were absolutely blown away with what he came up with.
