Inspiration for adding an accent to your kitchen

Inspiration for adding an accent to your kitchen

When you’re splashing our on a new designer kitchen, it makes sense to make the space stylish and bespoke. Design accents are one of the main ways to add a unique touch to bespoke kitchens. Best of all, they’re simple to create too. So whether you want to update your current kitchen or start planning a brand new designer kitchen, we’ve listed everything you need to know about accent kitchens.

Play with colour in the kitchen

When we talk about adding an accent to your kitchen, the first thing that usually comes to mind is colour. For many, a colour accent is perhaps the obvious and easiest choice. It’s a great way to add a touch of personality to your kitchen space and makes the space feel a whole lot livelier. A pop of colour is a welcome addition in all-white kitchens too, which can look too clinical without that touch of colour.

It’s easy to add colour accent to your kitchen space. If you’re feeling daring, why not go bold with a brightly coloured wall or splashback? The result can look fantastic – as demonstrated in this customer kitchen

If you’re feeling a little more reserved, add a touch of colour with bright furnishings and accessories. You could opt for red bar stools, canary yellow light shades or bright blue small appliances. The choice is yours.

Go bold with kitchen furniture

If you’re keen to stick to a neutral colour scheme or one-colour kitchen, why not add an accident with furniture? If you want to go bold, opt for one statement piece of furniture that really stands out. An old, oak dining table in a traditional kitchen adds a real statement feel to your dining space – for more inspiration, take a look at this customer kitchen. Alternatively, a glass and chrome dining table would look great in a more contemporary kitchen space.

If you’d rather stick to something subtle, why not add some decorative touches to your existing furniture? For example, you could replace old handles and doorknobs with modern ones or decorative ones.

Get clever with kitchen lighting

When you begin planning your designer kitchen, lighting isn’t usually one of the first things to come to mind. However, good lighting and more specifically, accent lighting, can have a huge impact on the look and feel of your kitchen.

Accent lighting creates depth and dimension in a kitchen space, leaving you with a more sophisticated look. While there are many ways you can play with lighting, some of the most popular include spotlights to highlight key areas of your kitchen and fixtures placed inside of glass-fronted cabinets to illuminate china and glassware. In this Kitchen Design Centre kitchen, we installed a trendy LED wall – adding a creative lighting accent.

AWARD-WINNING KITCHENS FOR AN AWARD-WINNING DEVELOPER

As you may know if you’ve visited any of our showrooms in Manchester, Blackburn, Liverpool or Barrowford, we manage more than 250 kitchen projects each year here at Kitchen Design Centre. Many of these kitchens are for individual customers, but we also specialise in providing exceptional designer kitchens to housebuilders and developers. We have a particularly successful longstanding relationship with Candelisa, a prestigious Yorkshire-based property developer that is (like us) known for the peerless quality of its designs.
The company already has an impressive array of awards on its shelves, and its team have recently managed to secure their latest accolade: the Best High Volume New Housing Development at the prestigious LABC Awards!
In case you need a quick refresher, the LABC Awards are the largest business-to-business awards in the UK’s building control sector, aimed at celebrating and rewarding building projects, and the people behind them. The Best High Volume New Housing Development in question was Candelisa’s project at Countyfields, Embsay. Due to our strong relationship with the company (largely through Simon Thomas, the head of our Barrowford showroom), Kitchen Design Centre was chosen to deliver every kitchen at the Embsay development – and like Candelisa’s team, we’re hugely proud of the results.

Latest case study now live incase you missed it.

With a keen eye for design, Nicole knew the look she wanted and approached a local kitchen company. They came up with a range of designs but although there was nothing wrong with them, the couple felt that they would like an alternative design. They were already dealing with a lot of different companies for other rooms in the house and were reluctant to involve another but Anthony suggested they visited Rowan at Kitchen Design Centre Urmston to see if he could improve the design, and they were absolutely blown away with what he came up with.
