Spruce up your kitchen for summer!

As summer is finally on its way, and our showrooms across the North West are lit (intermittently!) by glorious golden sunlight, the Kitchen Design Centre team are all spending a lot more time in the kitchen – whether we’re readying for a Father’s Day feast, trying out things we’ve seen on Great British Bake Off or simply whipping up a fresh summer salad.

In the spirit of the seriously good summer eating on the way, we’ve put our heads together and come up with ideas to help you spruce up your kitchen for summer. Read on for a few ways to bring the best out your kitchen and get the summer off to a great start.

Throw out old food

If you’re like us and your shelves are littered with tins of out-of-date beans, half-opened jars of olives, and left-over Christmas pickles– well, nothing will make your kitchen feel cleaner than a good old clear-out.

Not only will everything look lighter and more summery, you’ll make some well-needed space for classic summer foods, like fish, fruit and salad vegetables.

Dust down crockery

Talking about salads – if you’ve been holed up throughout the winter months subsisting on shepherds’ pie and casserole, it’s likely your salad crockery is gathering dust on a shelf somewhere.

Dust those dishes down and get ready to pile them full of rocket, lettuce, baby spinach, radish and spring onion. There’s a smashing set of summer salad recipes here, courtesy of the BBC – we have it on good authority that their Niçoise is not to be missed.

Make some space for sorbet

Sorbets are all the rage this summer – healthier and more elegant than ice-cream, they take a bit of finesse when combining the ingredients but are an impressive way to end a summer meal.
