What’s in season: February

whats-in-season-february

As we embrace the last of the cold temperatures it’s a good idea to stock up on hearty foods that are full of flavour. Although filling and satisfying, most of our favourite February foods are healthy too – keeping you feel full while still sitting perfectly alongside your 2016 diet.

Go for root vegetables

whats-in-season-february

Root vegetables are a great option at this time of the year. Potatoes, celeriac, swede and turnips all taste great and add bulk to your dishes. Horseradish, chicory, shallots and black truffles also start to come into season making for some interesting vegetarian options too.

Add a touch of summer with zesty fruits

Kiwi fruit, passion fruit, clementines and pomegranate are just some of the February fruits you might like to experiment with. If you prefer the more traditional staples, why not opt for pears and bananas, which taste great the majority of the year.

Opt for light fish dishes….

From langoustine, oysters and scallops through to skate, lemon sole and mackerel, there’s plenty of choice when it comes to seasonal fish.

…or indulge in a bit of game

If you prefer a meat main why not opt for game? Guinea fowl, hare, mallard, partridge and venison are all highly desirable at this time of year.

Be inspired by our February menu favourites

From warming soups to delicious two-course meals, ideal for the family and those dinner dates, the Neff team have some great meal ideas for February…

Satisfying Soups

If you’re looking for a yummy lunch or light dinner we recommend a homemade soup. Ideal for the chilly month of February, our Bake It Yourself soups are sure to warm you up…

Spiced Root Vegetable Soup

Root vegetables are still in abundance in February – so why not put them to good use with this spicy soup? Carrots, onion, lentils and parsnips all come together to create a winter taste sensation. Best of all, all you need is a hand blender and your Neff hob.

Sweet Potato, Red Pepper & Coconut Soup

For those of you with a sweet tooth, this coconut soup is sure to be a winner. While warming it also has a real feel of summer with its fruity, coconut kick. Cook your veggies in your Neff Oven, and then heat the whole lot up on your hob for thick and creamy soup perfection.

Marvelous Mains

With many of us still trying to keep an eye on our waistlines a healthy fish dish is a great choice…

Stuffed Salmon

This oily fish is full of nutrients, including all your essential fats. Enhance the flavour with herbs for a dish the whole family will love. To ensure the fish remains moist, rather than dry, cook at 160 degrees in your CircoTherm for the recommended time.

Comforting Cake

While it’s not quite time to get the berries and cream out, you can still enjoy a delicious cakey feast…

Carrot and Nut Cake

This yummy cake makes use of one of our favourite root vegetables and teams it with orange and mixed fruit for a great sweet treat. The nuts and seeds also provide those all-important healthy fats, turning something that one might consider sinful into something that’s almost healthy! Cook to perfection in your CircoTherm in 75 minutes.

AWARD-WINNING KITCHENS FOR AN AWARD-WINNING DEVELOPER

As you may know if you’ve visited any of our showrooms in Manchester, Blackburn, Liverpool or Barrowford, we manage more than 250 kitchen projects each year here at Kitchen Design Centre. Many of these kitchens are for individual customers, but we also specialise in providing exceptional designer kitchens to housebuilders and developers. We have a particularly successful longstanding relationship with Candelisa, a prestigious Yorkshire-based property developer that is (like us) known for the peerless quality of its designs.
The company already has an impressive array of awards on its shelves, and its team have recently managed to secure their latest accolade: the Best High Volume New Housing Development at the prestigious LABC Awards!
In case you need a quick refresher, the LABC Awards are the largest business-to-business awards in the UK’s building control sector, aimed at celebrating and rewarding building projects, and the people behind them. The Best High Volume New Housing Development in question was Candelisa’s project at Countyfields, Embsay. Due to our strong relationship with the company (largely through Simon Thomas, the head of our Barrowford showroom), Kitchen Design Centre was chosen to deliver every kitchen at the Embsay development – and like Candelisa’s team, we’re hugely proud of the results.

Latest case study now live incase you missed it.

With a keen eye for design, Nicole knew the look she wanted and approached a local kitchen company. They came up with a range of designs but although there was nothing wrong with them, the couple felt that they would like an alternative design. They were already dealing with a lot of different companies for other rooms in the house and were reluctant to involve another but Anthony suggested they visited Rowan at Kitchen Design Centre Urmston to see if he could improve the design, and they were absolutely blown away with what he came up with.
