After experiencing poor service from a large high street kitchen retailer the Barrowford couple looked closer to home and turned to Simon Thomas at Kitchen Design Centre in Barrowford to create their dream space.
“We felt we were in safe hands with Simon and let him take the lead with the design from the start. His ideas were fantastic and we liked how he considered the design in terms of how it would look but also how we’d use the kitchen on a day-to-day basis. The amount of storage we’ve ended up with is brilliant and Simon introduced elements we’d never considered like a built-in wine fridge and sophisticated lighting scheme.”

In addition to the obvious kitchen essentials, Simon accommodated all Elliott’s DJ equipment and worked the design so everything would work in the optimum way: a built in sound system was concealed in the ceiling, a base box worked in to the peninsular and integrated plug points meant unsightly wires would be hidden away when Elliott’s decks were placed on the peninsular.
Knocking a wall down and creating one large space enabled distinct zones: the kitchen at one end and an area for dining or partying at the other. Simon created a focal point at the far end with bespoke shelving that matched the laser soft pearl grey units in the kitchen. To keep the room feeling light and airy, Carrara marble effect white worktops were chosen and were integrated in to the windowsill for a sleek, seamless look. To further enhance the contemporary feel, stainless steel channel handles were chosen.
Finished Kitchen
In keeping with the contemporary cutting-edge vibe, Elliott and Carolyne chose Neff appliances throughout, from the cooker hood to the induction hob, oven and fridge freezer. A sophisticated lighting system of Sensio feature lights with Zirconia pendant lights further enhances the contemporary feel.
The end result is a stunning open plan area.

Cooking in here is a joy we enjoy using it as a party space too.”
