The introduction of a large extension, complete with an expansive glass window, has completely transformed the space, allowing natural light to pour in throughout the day. The kitchen, now the heart of the home, needed to reflect both the scale of the project and the modern lifestyle Melanie had created.
Having previously worked with Kitchen Design Centre in her former home, Melanie began her search there but not before exploring several large high-street kitchen retailers. What she found elsewhere was disappointing. Designs felt uninspired, and concerns over product quality quickly surfaced. In contrast, a return visit to the Blackburn Kitchen Design Centre showroom proved to be a reminder of what specialist design feels like. The displays immediately impressed, but it was designer Lou Roberts’ enthusiasm and attention to detail that set the experience apart. From the outset, Lou took a real interest in the project, understanding not just how the space should function, but how it needed to feel.
Are you ready to make your dream kitchen a reality?
Initially, Melanie had envisioned a classic shaker-style kitchen. However, as the design process unfolded and she explored the wide range of contemporary options available, her preferences evolved. She realised that Kitchen Design Centre’s expertise shone through in modern design, and the scheme shifted towards something more sleek and current.
Textured finishes played a key role in bringing depth and character to the space, with a sophisticated pairing of smooth cashmere matt handleless cabinetry combined with concrete-effect comet pearl grey units, creating a beautifully balanced contrast between softness and structure.
Although new to Neff appliances, Melanie has been delighted with their performance and intuitive functionality. The fitting process proved just as impressive, with the installation team praised for their professionalism, precision, and care throughout the project. Every detail was thoughtfully considered, ensuring the finished kitchen not only looks stunning, but works effortlessly.
Contemporary and practical in equal measure, the finished kitchen perfectly complements the architectural scale of the extension. Flooded with light and framed by breathtaking views, the space feels calm, refined, and effortlessly modern. From the textured cabinetry to the clean, handleless lines and state-of-the-art appliances, every element works in harmony. Melanie is absolutely delighted with the result — a kitchen that is as striking as it is functional and her confidence in returning to Kitchen Design Centre has once again been rewarded.
Are you ready to make your dream kitchen a reality?
"This was such an exciting project to work on. The amount of natural light in the new extension is incredible and really allowed us to create a beautifully open, contemporary space that feels calm and inviting. Melanie was a pleasure to work with once again, and I loved seeing her ideas evolve throughout the design process. I’m so proud of the finished result."Lou Roberts

STUNNING TRANSFORMATION
Our clients chose Kitchen Design Centre because they wanted a dedicated expert to lead the way, rather than a mere supplier of parts
They required a team to guide them from the first spark of an idea to the final finishing touches.
The brief presented a unique challenge – transforming a blank-canvas garage into a space that celebrated the charm of a traditional barn conversion. The room, featuring expansive wooden beams, demanded a thoughtful design.
More than just a kitchen, the clients required a family-oriented living hub with a dining area tailored for entertaining.
Working with Simon, the Manager at our Barrowford showroom, provided total peace of mind. He spent time listening and meticulously exploring various layouts until the vision felt just right.
The result is a traditionally-styled kitchen filled with modern gadgets. The breathtaking Dark Blue Shaker cabinetry serves as a bold anchor, paired with light-toned units to accentuate the warmth of the timber beams and flooring.
