It was Simon Thomas, the Showroom Manager, who stood out with his exceptional design expertise and ability to offer creative, tailored solutions.
The couple were particularly impressed by the Barrowford showroom, liking its large size and the variety of stunning displays. They liked the main flagship display and it inspired their final design, as they adopted many features including the large island and Graphite and Taupe colour scheme.
Seeking a modern update to their traditional kitchen, Zee and Adam tasked Simon with reimagining the space while respecting the period property’s original features. To achieve their vision, they decided to remove a wall and merge two rooms, creating a spacious, open-plan kitchen and living area that now spans the length of their home.

Part of the building work involved installing underfloor heating and working round an old mantle that was in the middle of the room. Simon skilfully incorporated the mantle area into the design, using half-depth cupboards to work around the feature. He also arranged for GLC developments to handle the structural building work and craft bespoke skirting boards to match the originals, preserving the room’s charm.
An island was at the top of their wish list, and Simon ensured it became the focal point of the kitchen, advising on the perfect proportions to complement the space.
When it came to appliances they were delighted that Kitchen Design Centre were Master Neff partners and chose the Flex design ovens and hob with co-ordinating trims. They complemented these with a Liebherr fridge and freezer with ice maker and a Quooker flex tap in black with filtered and sparkling water.
The result is a stunning kitchen that combines functionality and style, seamlessly blending period charm with contemporary design. The family couldn’t be happier with the transformation.
“We’ve found that we spend so much more time together as a family now,” they shared. “The space is perfect for everything—from casual and formal dining to food preparation, cooking and relaxing. It’s exactly what we wanted.”
They can’t praise Kitchen Design Centre enough, from Simon and GLC, the building company, right through to Craig the fitter who did an impeccable job.

"This project was a pleasure to work on. The finished space looks stunning, but the greatest reward is knowing it has improved the way the family lives—confirming that I’ve achieved my goal as a designer."Simon Thomas

We have some BIG news today & it’s a big CONGRATULATIONS to:
Simon Thomas - 25 years at Kitchen Design Centre!
On the 14th November 2000, Simon joined Kitchen Trade Centre, to start his career with us at the proposed new Colne showroom that he helped to fit out for its opening day in 2001. All these years later & a move to larger premises in Barrowford, he is still consistently designing fabulous kitchens, aspiring others in the company & leading by example as the top salesperson overall for the company.
25 years is an incredible milestone and impressive achievement to reach, and this is a true reflection of his dedication and commitment over the years. His knowledge and experience have made a huge difference to this company as a whole and it’s been great working alongside him and sharing his passion for what he does.
On behalf of the company, Simon has been given a bottle of Champagne & a voucher to help celebrate with as he chooses.
Thank you again Simon for all you have accomplished over the past 25 years, and to a few more successful years ahead.
