The problem was they liked so many of the displays in the showroom that they had designs done for each one, ending up with five fantastic designs based entirely on five of the displays!
Living not far from the new showroom, the couple loved visiting and perusing all the displays. Initially Carole liked a shaker style display in the window and asked Rowan to do a design based on this. Her husband preferred a more modern style though and both of them wanted anything but a white or black kitchen. After more designs based on several displays, the couple were wowed with a design based on one of the large contemporary displays in the showroom which incorporated copper and neutral tones.

Carole wanted an island or peninsular but a set of two French doors to the garden meant wall space was limited. Rowan introduced a square island in the middle of the room and an ‘L’ shaped design that wrapped the kitchen along two of the walls. Placing a Blanco Sublime sink on the back wall allowed the units to run continuously and a combination of fold-up doors in gloss taupe contrasted with lower kitchen drawers and cupboards in grey oak. Open black metal shelves also allowed Carole to display items and created difference within the space.
Because storage was so important to Carole, Rowan incorporated internal storage in the form of four pull-out drawers in the larder unit next to the oven and a Le Mans pull-out in the corner unit. Drawers underneath the hob and island provided additional storage.
One thing that was set from the beginning was the appliances, with the couple both wanting Neff. They opted for the Neff Combi oven with warming drawer, flex induction hob, extractor and a slimline dishwasher. These appliances were integrated with their existing fridge freezer and washing machine.
With lockdowns and several designs to choose from, it took a while to settle on their dream design but they felt like they were in excellent hands and praised Rowan’s organisational skills and patience.
“Rowan put so much hard work in to designing our kitchen. He was incredibly patient and an absolute star. Our kitchen is really beautiful.”
They were also delighted with the fitting team, finding them efficient and diligent.
