Why Is A Kitchen The Best Place To Create Memories?

Kitchens are almost unrivalled in their reputation as fantastic places to create lasting memories. Modern kitchens are social, versatile spaces, breaking down the barriers between cooking and dining and allowing us more time and freedom to be together. And as the years pass, the love and laughs we enjoy with friends and family will undoubtedly form our most treasured memories of all.

The Kitchen As A Place For Quality Family Time

 family breakfast

It’s not for no reason that the kitchen is often known as ‘the heart of the home’. With many family members spending the day apart at work or school, the kitchen is where everyone convenes to talk, laugh and enjoy some quality time in each other’s company. As we can all attest, modern life can be very busy, and sometimes that leaves little time during the day that family members can come together and bond – which makes the evening meal all the more important.

Many people view family as the most important thing in the world, and almost every one has their own history, their own anecdotes and in-jokes. The kitchen is a place to revel in this shared culture, fondly recalling family legends and even creating new ones. The classic Sunday roast is a great example of this. It’s more than just food, but also a celebration of familial bonds – and the kitchen is where it all happens! All this makes it a space for not only creating valuable, lasting memories.

This is true for children especially, as a lot of their early memories are tied to food and the kitchen. As infants most of us learn about the world around us by putting things in our mouths – as any mother will tell you! – which means that for children the kitchen is a veritable wonderland. There are new textures, new tastes and new things to be experienced in the kitchen, and always encompassed by the sense of love and family.

The Kitchen As A Social Space To Entertain

In a very similar way, our kitchens are central to socialising in our homes. After all, when was the last time you invited someone round and didn’t offer them anything to eat or drink? On-trend, open-plan kitchens are ideal for socialising in terms of their layout and appliances too. In this case study, you can see that one of our clients has seamlessly linked their cooking and dining areas. This means they can begin preparing a delicious meal without even having to break off their conversation with their guests. And once the food is ready, it doesn’t need to be carried to a completely separate room while everyone sits waiting – it’s nothing more than a few steps round to the dining area. Without the need to make constant trips from room to room, modern kitchens allow the cook the freedom to fully enjoy the company of their friends and family in experiences that will form the basis of fond memories for many years to come.

As people, our strongest memories will always be tied to home, and the pride in creating amazing meals for our guests is just one more reason why cooking and socialising in our own kitchens will always be more treasured experiences than eating out at even the most high-class restaurants.

Or you can even pop into any one of our designer kitchen showrooms in Manchester, Blackburn and Colne, where you can see them in the flesh! AWARD-WINNING KITCHENS FOR AN AWARD-WINNING DEVELOPER

As you may know if you’ve visited any of our showrooms in Manchester, Blackburn, Liverpool or Barrowford, we manage more than 250 kitchen projects each year here at Kitchen Design Centre. Many of these kitchens are for individual customers, but we also specialise in providing exceptional designer kitchens to housebuilders and developers. We have a particularly successful longstanding relationship with Candelisa, a prestigious Yorkshire-based property developer that is (like us) known for the peerless quality of its designs.
The company already has an impressive array of awards on its shelves, and its team have recently managed to secure their latest accolade: the Best High Volume New Housing Development at the prestigious LABC Awards!
In case you need a quick refresher, the LABC Awards are the largest business-to-business awards in the UK’s building control sector, aimed at celebrating and rewarding building projects, and the people behind them. The Best High Volume New Housing Development in question was Candelisa’s project at Countyfields, Embsay. Due to our strong relationship with the company (largely through Simon Thomas, the head of our Barrowford showroom), Kitchen Design Centre was chosen to deliver every kitchen at the Embsay development – and like Candelisa’s team, we’re hugely proud of the results.

Latest case study now live incase you missed it.

With a keen eye for design, Nicole knew the look she wanted and approached a local kitchen company. They came up with a range of designs but although there was nothing wrong with them, the couple felt that they would like an alternative design. They were already dealing with a lot of different companies for other rooms in the house and were reluctant to involve another but Anthony suggested they visited Rowan at Kitchen Design Centre Urmston to see if he could improve the design, and they were absolutely blown away with what he came up with.
