The nature of the space meant the kitchen layout couldn’t change much, so working with a company who were prepared to consider utilising parts of the existing kitchen, such as the work surface and appliances was important to Jan. Equally important was a company that could offer a full project management service like Kitchen Design Centre.
Rowan Chick at the Urmston showroom took all of this into consideration and was able to provide a range of options and ideas from a completely new solution to a hybrid of existing and new. It soon became clear that the new kitchen would be compromised too much by using the existing worktops but Jan was pleased that Rowan explored all the available options.

Jan was keen to move the oven & microwave and create more storage. Rowan did this by incorporating cupboards under the island and moving the oven and microwave and ‘stacking’ them to make more efficient use of the space.
Jan particularly liked the inspiration she was able to glean from the Urmston showroom and knowing she wanted a shaker style for a more classic look, was delighted with the wide range of door and handle options she was presented with. Her first thought was to go for a dark grey to match the room’s radiators but Rowan presented a lighter colour: Hampton Pearl Grey which Jan loved and matched with handles that worked perfectly. To ensure the light in the room was maximised, a light colour worktop was selected in Attico Quartz.
Jan already had Neff appliances and loved them so Rowan worked her existing Neff hob and dishwasher in to the new kitchen and added to them with a new Neff Hide and Slide oven, Neff Combination Microwave oven and integrated fridge freezer. This was complemented by a Blanco sink and mixer tap.
Rowan also introduced the curved cornice to the wall units adding a perfect finishing touch to reflect the ornate features of the high ceilings.
Jan is delighted with the finished kitchen and can’t praise Rowan and Kitchen Design Centre enough, “Rowan’s patience and knowledge was incredible. He was willing to try so many different options and went above and beyond with the amount of work he put in at the design stage. I needed a one-stop shop and Kitchen Design Centre delivered, handling the whole process from start to finish. Everyone from Rowan to the fitters were fantastic.”

When Katherine and Andrew purchased their property, they always knew a full renovation would follow.
With both the outdated kitchen and untouched garden requiring significant transformation, the project soon became part of Channel 4’s George Clarke’s Beautiful Builds – it was an opportunity they felt perfectly aligned with their vision for the property.
While searching for a local kitchen specialist, Kitchen Design Centre immediately stood out thanks to its long-standing reputation, glowing customer reviews and welcoming showroom experience.
The brief focused on creating a sleek, contemporary kitchen that would feel open, social and highly functional, while complementing the wider architectural renovation of the home.
The finished design delivers a beautifully balanced space that combines clean lines with luxurious detailing.
One of the standout features is the striking worktop design. The waterfall edge peninsula creates a bold focal point within the room, while the continuation of the material across the side panels introduces a seamless, premium aesthetic.
Functionality was equally important throughout the design process, with carefully considered storage solutions and high-quality appliances helping to simplify everyday living. Among Katherine and Andrew’s favourite additions is the Neff oven, praised for both its versatility and pyrolytic self-cleaning function.
