A contemporary Black Kitchen with Wood Accents for a Cheshire Home

Says Katie, “we loved their kitchen and although our finished kitchen is totally different to theirs, Kitchen Design Centre came highly recommended by them and I was impressed with the style and design features of their kitchen.”

Katie and John visited Grace at Kitchen Design Centre’s Urmston showroom with their architect’s plans. Initially Katie wanted a green kitchen but soon changed her mind when Grace suggested they visit kitchen Design Centre’s showroom at Housing Units in Failsworth for further inspiration.

They loved a black kitchen and chose Matt Black units. Katie was concerned that it may look too dark so Grace suggested introducing some light wood in the form of Bali Summer Oak in to the design to make it lighter. The final design went with a shaker feel with contemporary handles and Grace included a large island and created a separate bar area.

Katie had had Neff appliances before and they were top of her list for her new kitchen. She chose: The Slide and Hide Oven, Steam Oven, Flex Induction Hob, built in fridge and freezer and Wine Cabinet. To accompany these she also chose a Blanco sink and Quooker Pro 3 Fusion in Black.

Design features such as the wooden shelves in the island and on the back wall units really make the design and Katie loves her bespoke breakfast pantry cupboard that Grace included which is great for storage but also hides a nib on the wall. The Corian worktops contrast perfectly with the black and wood throughout the room too.

Kitchen Design Centre also designed and installed a matching utility room which complements the kitchen perfectly.

Building work on their home was so extensive that they had to move out for a few months. Katie and John were delighted with the fitters who did an exceptional job, working alongside their builders. The kitchen was finished on Christmas Eve so the first time they used it was Christmas Day which was perfect, allowing then to enjoy time as a family after such a long renovation.
