A Contemporary Graphite Kitchen with hints of Walnut

Sandra and Dave discovered Kitchen Design Centre while visiting Housing Units in Failsworth. They were immediately impressed by the showroom and its wide range of displays. However, it was designer Paul Harrington who truly stood out.

Sandra and Dave discovered Kitchen Design Centre while visiting Housing Units in Failsworth. They were immediately impressed by the showroom and its wide range of displays. However, it was designer Paul Harrington who truly stood out. His relaxed demeanour and genuine enthusiasm convinced them to work with him, without considering any other kitchen companies.

With a wish list that included an island and a contemporary aesthetic, they gave Paul full creative freedom. They loved a drinks area featured in one of the showroom displays and requested its inclusion, along with lighting beneath the island. Beyond these, they only provided the room measurements, and they were amazed by the design Paul delivered.

Are you ready to make your dream kitchen a reality?

The kitchen design featured a striking mix of dark tones: GL Graphite, White, and dark Walnut wood elements. Initially, Sandra and Dave worried it might look too dark, but the addition of white Quartz worktops in New Yarra created a striking contrast that brightened the entire space.

The island was equipped with a Neff Flex Venting Hob, perfect for the couple who wanted to avoid a bulky overhead extractor. They complemented this with other Neff appliances, including an oven with microwave, an integrated dishwasher, and a fridge freezer. A Blanco sink and a Quooker Pro3 Flex Gunmetal tap completed the look.

A Contemporary Graphite Kitchen

Kitchen Design Centre also designed and installed a matching utility room that perfectly complements the kitchen.

The end result is a stunning transformation of two rooms that completely transformed the downstairs of their home. The new kitchen is not only stylish but also highly functional. Sandra enjoys cooking in the new space, finding it easy to navigate, with everything thoughtfully placed.

She also loves the casual dining option at the breakfast bar.

"Kitchen Design Centre were fantastic from start to finish. Paul was great, he really listened to what we wanted and came up with the best design and the fitters were excellent."

What Our Designer Says

"I thoroughly enjoyed working with Sandra and Dave to create their ideal kitchen and utility room. The design required a lot of thought due to a large window and an opening to the lounge, which limited space on two of the walls. I maximized the potential of the two narrower walls by creating a feature shelving area on one and positioning the ovens and tall units on the other. The choice of colours and walnut accents works beautifully and looks fantastic."

AS SEEN ON GEORGE CLARKE’S BEAUTIFUL BUILDS: FROM DATED LAYOUT TO DREAM ENTERTAINING SPACE

When Katherine and Andrew purchased their property, they always knew a full renovation would follow.

With both the outdated kitchen and untouched garden requiring significant transformation, the project soon became part of Channel 4’s George Clarke’s Beautiful Builds – it was an opportunity they felt perfectly aligned with their vision for the property.

While searching for a local kitchen specialist, Kitchen Design Centre immediately stood out thanks to its long-standing reputation, glowing customer reviews and welcoming showroom experience.

The brief focused on creating a sleek, contemporary kitchen that would feel open, social and highly functional, while complementing the wider architectural renovation of the home.

The finished design delivers a beautifully balanced space that combines clean lines with luxurious detailing.
One of the standout features is the striking worktop design. The waterfall edge peninsula creates a bold focal point within the room, while the continuation of the material across the side panels introduces a seamless, premium aesthetic.

Functionality was equally important throughout the design process, with carefully considered storage solutions and high-quality appliances helping to simplify everyday living. Among Katherine and Andrew’s favourite additions is the Neff oven, praised for both its versatility and pyrolytic self-cleaning function.
The completed result is a sophisticated contemporary space that completely transforms how the home looks, feels, and functions, perfectly reflecting Katherine and Andrew’s original vision from the moment they moved in.
