The black and graphite colours in one of the displays caught their eye in particular and from that point they decided to have a black modern kitchen.
An extension on the back of their house meant they could replace their small ‘U’ shaped kitchen with a large open plan kitchen area and designer Paul Harrington ‘overdelivered’ in Wes’ words, creating a stunning contemporary space that has the ‘Wow’ factor whilst delivering all the items on their wish list: a black kitchen, with a big sink, integrated bins and lots of storage.
They also visited two well-known high street kitchen retailers to compare prices and product but found Kitchen Design Centre to be competitive price wise and to have a far superior product. Neither of the other retailers could rival the black options Kitchen Design Centre offered, with Wes and Zara choosing a Black Matt UV Satin finish.
Neither company could match Kitchen Design Centre’s design skills either. They loved Paul’s attention to detail and the time he took to incorporate niche details such as the floating media wall, under cabinet lighting and other quirky details such as the contrasting wood textures throughout. The long island looks superb and offers breakfast bar dining and a more formal seated option at the other end in matching Cognac Vintage Oak.
As keen cooks, Wes and Zara love the fact that the kitchen is designed with cooking in mind. Everything is within easy reach with all the appliances on the left-hand side of the kitchen, meaning no walking from one side to the other. They are impressed with the Neff appliances Paul specified too, in particular the Slide and Hide Oven and Black Induction venting Hob.
They love the way the kitchen has transformed their home, with friends and family being blown away at the transformation and how fantastic the kitchen looks. Wes explains that everyone’s reaction is the same, “as guests move through the house they compliment us on the changes, loving the lounge for example. As they enter the kitchen they’re absolutely blown away and are literally lost for words. They can’t believe the transformation and how amazing it looks.” We love this space and spending time in it. At night it takes on a totally different look and feel thanks to Paul’s clever lighting scheme.

"It was a pleasure working with Wes and Zara to say they are a laid-back couple would be an understatement. This was great from my point of view as it gave me the opportunity to be quite brave with design and colour choice. Most customers would have reservations of using black and wouldn’t be ‘brave’ enough. But Wes and Zara put their faith in me and took the leap and it totally paid off."Paul Harrington
