Design was important so they shopped around, getting designs from several kitchen companies but it was Paul Harrington from Kitchen Design Centre who stood out and impressed. They felt he took time to study the space and deliver a unique design, unlike the other companies who proposed keeping their current kitchen layout.
The inspiration they got from the Kitchen Design Centre showroom at Housing Units cemented their choice. They particularly loved a Silver Star textured door on one of the displays and eventually chose that for their kitchen. This textured door contrasted perfectly with the brilliant white shades of the rest of the kitchen.
A particularly clever aspect of the design was an element of the island. To break up the large expanse of Carrera White Quartz, Paul included a unique step-down feature where the island dropped from 60mm to 20mm. This was to make a feature of the joint rather than hide it and created difference in the exceptionally long island.
Paul and Catherine were also delighted with the appliances that were recommended to them. For the ovens, they selected two Neff Hide and Slide ovens, a warming drawer and a Compact Oven and Microwave. A Neff hob complemented these together with a Neff Ceiling Hood and Neff integrated fridge and freezer. A Neff dishwasher was also chosen.
As a keen cook, the kitchen needed to function perfectly and Paul praises the ergonomics of the kitchen design, with all the appliances placed perfectly to ensure cooking is easy with everything in reach. Paul also chose the Quooker Pro3 Flex tap in chrome for it’s aesthetics, efficiency and performance.
The end result is a striking contemporary light, airy kitchen space that looks on to their fabulous garden. Paul and Catherine are over the moon with Paul and Kitchen Design Centre as Paul explains, “it came down to design excellence. Paul had fantastic ideas which have translated in to this amazing space.”
"It came down to design excellence. Paul had fantastic ideas which have translated in to this amazing space."
"The first designs were based around the existing space but these weren’t giving Paul and Catherine their “wow” kitchen. There was always a side plan to extend if required and this was the route taken. The extension gave the client the vast space to allow me to create their dream kitchen, providing plenty of storage and a great space to cook and entertain. This was a fantastic project to work on and the result is stunning."Paul Harrington
