Get Inspired: Kitchen Design Centre’s 2024 Highlights and Trends

As we enter 2025, we reflect on an incredible 2024 at Kitchen Design Centre! This year, we’ve transformed countless homes with stunning kitchen designs, embraced bold trends, and revamped our showrooms with exciting new displays. From classic charm to cutting-edge modernity, here’s a roundup of our most exciting projects and trends that shaped the year.

Ultra-Chic Contemporary Kitchens

Sleek, contemporary kitchens were at the forefront of design this year, with standout projects that exemplify sophistication and style:

Ultra Chic Contemporary Kitchen

This dramatic dark kitchen, designed by Rowan Chick, featured a reverse shark nose edge detail, statement shelving, and bold orange stools for contrast. The inclusion of Walnut added warmth, while the overall design combined practicality with undeniable wow factor.

Chris Lunt, Manager of our Woolton showroom, created a stunning contemporary kitchen for this Liverpool home using pearl grey putty concrete and opal grey finishes to complement the home’s aesthetic. At the heart of the design was a large island, fulfilling the customer’s vision of an open, functional, and visually striking space.

Timeless Tradition: Classic Kitchens Reimagined

Traditional kitchens continued to be a favourite this year, as showcased by two stunning projects in Cheshire:

Replicating a Kitchen Design Centre kitchen

After moving house, Gordon and Sabrina returned to Kitchen Design Centre to recreate the Shaker kitchen they loved so much from their previous home. Designer Paul Harrington delivered once again. “We loved our first kitchen so much that going back to Paul for a similar design was a no-brainer. It looks fantastic, and we’re delighted once again.”

Classic Shaker Style kitchen for a Cheshire Home

Opting for a handleless Shaker design, Paul and Louise chose Hampton Pearl Grey cabinetry with a contrasting Hampton Velvet Blue island. Their vision of a timeless, elegant kitchen came to life after struggling to find the perfect style with other kitchen companies.

Fusing Modern with Traditional

One standout project blended tradition with modern flair. For a barn conversion in Yorkshire, Simon Thomas, Barrowford Showroom Manager, broke the mould with a fresh, contemporary approach. Moving away from typical country aesthetics, the design featured a pantry cupboard and a bespoke drinks room—an ideal marriage of classic and modern elements.

Wood Accents Taking the Spotlight

One trend that dominated in 2024 was the use of wood in kitchen designs, with Walnut emerging as a top choice.

Designer Paul Harrington convinced Gemma and Paul to embrace Walnut in their contemporary black kitchen. “If someone had told me I’d choose a black and Walnut kitchen, I wouldn’t have believed them,” said Gemma. “But I absolutely love it and am so glad we trusted Paul’s suggestion.”

Contemporary Black and Walnut Kitchen

Sandra and Dave incorporated Walnut throughout their contemporary graphite kitchen, combining Walnut elements with the dark tones throughout to soften the look and provide texture.
